In 2020, the Private Equity Department was established to target companies in the MENA region with a focus on GCC, investing in various sectors and activities. This department looks for unconventional capital structures in the form of private debt and private equity in relation to risk and corporate growth. The goal of diving into the private debt market is to achieve stable cashflows as well as having a clear timeline for an exit strategy through strict deal-making to protect its investments.
Regarding private equity, the goal of the department is to achieve long-term returns in targeted companies and draw clear strategies to grow these companies to maximize their values when exiting. The typical timeframe for investing (investment horizon) in private equity is 5-7 years.

Dr.Mohammad Naser Al-Marzouq

Mr. Mohammad Nasser Al-Marzouq has nearly 16 years of professional experience in the Investment and Academic sectors and is currently a Professor – Accounting Department – at College of Business Administration – Kuwait University.
In addition to Mr. Al-Marzouq Independent membership at Wafra International Investment Company Board of Directors, he is also a member of Audit, Nomination & Remuneration and Risk Committees.
Previously, Mr. Al-Marzouq held positions at Aayan Capital Investment Company, Aayan Leasing and Investment Company and RSM Albazie & Co. (Kuwait Auditing Office) and a board member of the Ajyal National Educational Company.
On the academic level, the member holds a Bachelor’s and master’s degree in Accounting from University of San Diego – USA, and a PH.D in Accounting from the University of Nebraska – USA.

وقد شغل في السابق وظائف في شركة أعيان كابيتال للإستثمار وشركة أعيان للإجارة والإستثمار، كما في عمل في مكتب بدر البزيع للتدقيق المحاسبي، وشغل منصب عضو مجلس إدارة في شركة أجيال الوطنية التعليمية.
وعلى المستوى الأكاديمي فهو حاصل على شهادتي البكالوريوس والماجستير في المحاسبة من جامعة ساندييقو في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، وحاصل على شهادة الدكتوراة في المحاسبة من جامعة نبراسكا في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية.

Mr. Abdullah Mohamad Ali AlGhamin AlMutairi has around 30 years of experience in Administration and Financial Affairs, and currently is the Chairman of Wafra International Investment Company. Mr. Abdullah is presently holding a position of Acting Deputy General Manager for Finance & Administration at the Public Institution For Social Security.
Mr. Abdullah holds a Master’s degree in Asian studies majoring in studies and research in political and economic sciences from Zagazig University – Egypt, and a Bachelor’s degree in commerce majoring in economics from Kuwait University and previously worked at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Bader Abdullah Al Kandari

Mr. Al Kandari has 15+ year in investment and currently is the Deputy Chairman of the Board at WIIC and also Chief Investment Officer at the Liquid Sector of the Public Institution for Social Security (PIFSS).
He holds an MBA from California State University at Chico. Al Kandari started his career at Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and later held various senior positions at Al Mal Investment Company and Dima Capital.

Mohammad Al Matrouk

Mr. Al Matroul has a 12+ year experience in banking and investment. He’s currently a Board Member at WIIC in addition to being the Fixed Income Department Head at the Public Institution for Social Security.
He holds an MSc in Finance from Florida International University (United States) and BSc in Accounting from George Washington University (United States). He previously worked at the National Bank of Kuwait and Boubyan Bank.
